This is a proposal that will address several concerns voiced on the Fab Forum and in the city of Detroit. The expansion of the Cobo Convention Center / conversion of Cobo Arena into the new Olympia Stadium. The existing rooftop parking now becomes covered, and a new parking lot is created on the new roof. Detroit would have the mammoth convention center it sorely needs to host the International Auto Show, all on one floor (albeit 7, 8 and 9 stories up), and the Red Wings would get their state of the art hockey arena, complete with luxury suites. Re-route the people mover slightly, put in a couple more stations and viola. The need for hotel space would go through the roof, thereby calling for a restored Book Cadillac, Statler and Fort Shelby. This would propel Detroit to the forefront of world class cities. Build it and they will come!
